Romag’s toughened glass is a type of safety glass that is four times stronger than float. It is processed here by controlled thermal treatment and if broken, it safely crumbles into smaller granular pieces instead of splintering into jagged dangerous shards as with standard float glass.
Toughened glass is physically and thermally stronger than regular float glass yet has the same level of optical clarity and quality. As a result, toughened glass is used in a variety of demanding applications: stairs, balustrades, roofing and other applications that would become dangerous in the event of breakage.
At Romag, we have a state-of-the-art toughening plant that ensures all our products are produced with maximum strength and minimum distortion. This together with our technical expertise allows us to process the latest generations of soft-coat, low-emissivity insulation glasses, solar control and many other bespoke glass variants. For added peace of mind we can also heat strengthen and heat soak test if required.
