Specialist North East glass manufacturer Romag is celebrating 75 successful years in business.
Starting out from humble beginnings manufacturing laminated safety goggles for RAF pilots in 1943, the anniversary in a significant milestone for the company which has grown to a world leading, global business providing bespoke glass solutions to architectural, rail, security, transport and solar PV markets.
Following the acquisition of the business in March this year, Romag has begun to focus on its core competencies with significant investment in product development and its customer service offering.
Managing Director Mark Jones puts the success of the business down to the company’s continued commitment to improve itself, and attributes that to the professionalism and technical ability of its staff “We are incredibly proud to be one of the UK’s oldest and largest glass manufacturers. Romag is an exciting business and innovation has been at the heart of our strategy since the beginning. This is largely due to the ability to attract and retain talented professionals, some of whom are world leaders in their fields”.
“The business has endured some tough times in its 75-year history, largely due to the changing marketplace, but true to our heritage we have adapted and pushed into new, thriving sectors. The quality and technical ability of our glazing systems is unmatched and as one of the UK’s most experienced glass manufacturers, our confidence in the sector has established Romag as a business built on trust – this is especially relevant in security glass where there are no second chances if things go wrong”.
“The future for Romag is an extremely positive one; we are looking to expand our workforce and our foothold in the architectural, security and rail sectors. This year Romag will attend Innotrans in Berlin, the world’s leading rail exhibition, where we will demonstrate our ability to produce incredibly complex glazing solutions for rolling stock and infrastructure”.
