National Sporting Stadium

Contributing to an Olympic heritage, and a sustainable future.

When the London 2012 Games bid team promised a sustainable Games in 2005, they recognised the opportunity to use the power of the world’s greatest sporting event to drive a legacy of positive change.

This extended to the NCP car park at the Olympic Park. This is now an innovative green building, covered in 616 square metres of solar SMT6 (72) PV panels with self-clean coating which is expected to produce an estimated 67 MWh of electricity per annum.

The Solution

It’s true what they say, when you work hard and do the ‘right’ things success normally follows.

Following on from a successful install on the Press Office for the Olympic Games, we installed our high-quality, UK-manufactured solar panels at the NCP car park at the Olympic Park in London in December 2013.

The installation, which covers approximately 200 car parking spaces, has its own drainage system that comprises over 3,000 linear meters of drainage and equates to around 360KW of energy.

Working in partnership with Gentoo and Sundog, we supplied the PV panels from our factory based in Consett, County Durham. This project has shown our capability to deliver large-scale projects with the diverse requirements of the architectural, commercial, and construction and development markets.

The Result

1,532 235wp panels were supplied and installed to make this an iconic eco building at the heart of a sustainable Olympic Games.
